Holmer C of E Academy seeks to ensure that all its pupils receive a full-time education which maximises opportunities for each pupil to realise their true potential.  Our school strives to provide a welcoming, caring environment, whereby each member of the school community feels safe and secure. All school staff will work with pupils and their families to ensure each pupil attends school regularly and punctually. 

Therefore, we will support parents who give low priority to attendance and punctuality. 

To meet these objectives Holmer C of E Academy will establish an effective and efficient system of communication with parents and appropriate agencies to provide mutual information, advice and support. 

What time does school start?

At Holmer Academy, we open the gates at 8:30am and close them promptly at 8:45am. If you arrive after the gate has closed, please bring your child to the front office where you will be asked to sign your child in, giving a reason as to why they are late. Pupils arriving after the register has been taken will be marked as late (L) . 

The diagram below shows how the number of minutes late can affect the number of hours lost in learning.  Simply being 5 minutes late every day of the academic year means 15 hours are lost.  Every minute in school is important.

We will not routinely authorise holidays taken in term time. If you wish to make a request for term time absence for your child, please complete an absence request form and return via email to Katie Thomas or Rachel Anderson at the following address:

Once the request has been considered, you will receive an email to inform you whether the request has been authorised or not. Please include as much detail as possible as to why the term time absence is an exceptional circumstance, along with ensuring the request is submitted at least 6 weeks before the requested time.
