At Holmer Academy, pupils in each class put themselves forward to stand for pupil councillor. They stood up and told their peers why they would be good at this role and why they should be chosen to represent their class. Their class peers then voted for who they thought would be the best at representing their class.
Our school council meet monthly to discuss important issues raised by pupils. One representative from each class in years 1 - 6 sits on the council. Their role is to ensure that everyone's voice is heard and to work together to affect positive change within our school. They are the voice of the children. To start off the year, pupil council have discussed what we like about Holmer Academy and what we would like to improve. Throughout the year, we will be working together to improve: areas for wildlife, school lunches, playground equipment and we have many more ideas.
