I am delighted to become a Foundation Governor, on behalf of the Diocese of Hereford , of Holmer CofE Academy. Especially as it is such a well-run and successful schools
I have 3 children who have gone through the education system and now my 3 grandchildren are various stages of their school career. I have also been a Governor of two schools in the Bristol and South Gloucestershire area.
My working life can be described as a "Game of Three Halves". Initially I worked for in retail banking for 30 years, holding a variety of branch, regional and divisional roles. I then moved to the University of Bristol , where I supported the commercialisation of the University’s research. In 2006 I relocated to New Zealand so my wife and I could be closer to her parents in the twilight years. Whilst there I was involved in supporting companies in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty Regions with the development of their technology and management teams.
In 2016 I took retirement from fulltime work – but remained very active in community life – being a member of Rotary International where I have held various senior roles. I am also committed Christian who worships at St Barnabas’s Church Holmer where I am a churchwarden, worship leader, Lay Co-chair of the Hereford City Deanery and a member of the Hereford Diocese Synod.
In June 2021 we returned to live in the UK and now live just outside Hereford.
