5W and 5B
The Year 5 team is made up of a plethora of skills and experiences, separated into two classes, which will run parallel and cover the same learning criteria from within the new and exciting National Curriculum.
The 5W team is led by Mrs Watkins and teaching assistant Miss Hill, with team 5B led by Miss Bennett and teaching assistant Mrs Lowicka. As always within school, we hold high levels of expectations for children to be able to rise to the challenge, whilst valuing their individuality and celebrating achievements.
This term children will have two PE slots so the appropriate school kit should be in school – white t shirt, green shorts, sombre coloured trainers with a change of socks and dark jogging bottoms in case of inclement weather. If your child has long hair it is required to be tied back and pierced ears taped or the earrings removed.
In year 5 we had the privilege of being the first year group in the whole of Herefordshire, to trial Google Classrooms. The children really enjoyed this as it gave them a chance to engage with learning outside of the classroom and with each other. As a result we will again be using this Learning tool and already your child will have been given their login details.
Homework will be set on a Friday, using Google Classrooms unless stated otherwise and it should be returned by the following Wednesday. Homework will consists of a set of spellings, one piece of maths and one piece of literacy. Alongside this, children are required to continue their reading each evening for at least 20 minutes, exposing them to a wide range of genres.
Please remember if you have any questions or concerns – the Year 5 door is always open!
